Apotheker Health Access Initiative (Apotheker) seeks a Pharmaceutical Regulatory Advisor to support the USAID -Tanzania NextGen Ugavi Bora program implemented by JSI in collaboration with MOH, PORALG – Tanzania, and partners.
Apotheker Health Access Initiative is a non-profit, non-governmental organization registered under the Tanzanian NGO Act of 2002. Apotheker focuses on pharmaceutical services and access to medicine, alongside the strengthening of the broader health system and public health. We work in Tanzania and beyond, collaborating with the Ministry of Health, the President’s Office, the Regional and Local Government (PORALG), international and local partners, civil society organizations, and training and research institutions.
Overall Responsibilities
The Pharmaceutical Regulatory Advisor will lead efforts to support the strengthening of Pharmaceutical regulatory systems in Tanzania, focusing on enhancing the capacity and efficiency of regulatory authorities in collaboration with partners and stakeholders to achieve greater regulatory maturity, system resilience, and improved pharmaceutical oversight, with a strong emphasis on sustainability and digital integration.
Qualifications and Experiences
- Degree in Pharmacy and a master’s in pharmaceutical fields, public health, health policy, or related field
- 10+ years of professional experience in the pharmaceutical system, pharmaceutical policy development, and health system strengthening.
- Deep understanding of Tanzania’s pharmaceutical regulatory systems, health system strengthening, and regulatory framework.
- Experience in USAID-funded or donor-funded health systems projects.
- Strong analytical, communication, and stakeholder coordination and management skills
- Track record of a strong commitment to documenting experiences, sharing knowledge, and supporting creative initiatives
